Christmas Tree Pattern of Symmetrical Lines

Christmas tree pattern with lines cascading down or horizontally circle the tree give us a symmetrical impression. This helps tie a look together if you have many different kinds of ornaments and want to help them look coordinated. Also, you may want to look for a ribbon with image or pattern echoed on your ornaments.

Horizontal Circles

Wrap ribbon sashes around and anchor bows on them. Places where bows are anchored are gathered, so the overall pattern would look like a gown.

This Christmas Tree at Suria Shopping Center of Kuala Lumpur City Center should give you a good feel on the impact of horizontal pattern. For a balance illusion, they are placed with a closer distance at the bottom as compared to the top.

Vertical Lines Pattern

Decorating Christmas Tree with Vertical Ribbons

In this Christmas Tree Pattern at Queen Victoria Building of Sydney, glittering golden Christmas bows lined from top to bottom were very well coordinated with the crystal ornaments.

Alternatively, you can line up just the ribbons instead of bows.

You can do this in either a single ribbon or two. Whenever you use two ribbons, make sure that they are the same width and that the materials are of similar weight. Then choose any matching colors, patterns, or textures.

To begin with, fold the end over to make a loop, make accordion fold together and secure it with a wire tie. If you're using two ribbons, stack them together and do it.

Decorating Christmas Tree with Vertical Ribbons

Attach the loop near the treetop by bending a green over it.

Make a half-loop shape with the ribbon. Be sure the loop look p-u-f-f-y to you and anchor it to a green at least 6 inches below the first anchor. Well, the distance apart depends a lot on the size of the tree, so you don't have to measure but trust your artistic vision as you do it!

Another point to note is avoid anchoring near the branch tip but go in about 2 - 3 inches.

As you continue to go downwards, do make sure the loops are nicely rounded and gradual increase in size.

If you're using two ribbons, spread the ribbon apart after attaching them on the tree. Make them curve out till you see space between them.  Alternate the left and right ribbon pattern as you spread to make it look interesting.

Make three to five vertical ribbon lines around the tree, and making sure there're even space between the lines.

To finish off, trim the ribbon ends and seal them up.  Your tree is then ready to be decorated with ornaments.
