Hair Bow on no slip clip

Things you need to attach hair bow on alligator clip:

  • Ribbon bow;
  • 10mm (3/8 inches) width ribbon: 150mm (6 inches) length for center knot; 110mm (4-1/2 inches) length for clip lining;
  • 10mm (3/8 inches) width velvet ribbon, 25mm (1 inch) length for no-slip insert;
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks.
  • Scissors.

Alligator clip

I use this clip for many purposes. As a hair clip, the optimal hair bow size should not more than 75mm (3 inches). However, as it is handy to use for decorations, I love to attach it with bigger bow and conveniently clip anywhere and everywhere.

Now, turn to the back of the bow. We are going to place the 110mm (4-1/2 inches) ribbon horizontally behind the bow. Find the center of this ribbon, dab a dot of glue and secure it at the bow center.

The center knot

Make a reef knot at the center front of the ribbon bow, tying together the bow and the lining ribbon.

Grab hold of your 150mm (6 inches) length ribbon, find the center of the ribbon and place it vertically on the lining ribbon.

Bring both tails around to the front in order to make your first overhand knot.

The first overhand knot: You need to pull it as tight as possible and pull it horizontally, plus turning the wrong side of ribbon facing you.

The second overhand knot: Before you tighten the knot, please ensure the knot is neatly looped; all the right faces are in front, plus the tails are in the vertical directions. Do you have all three facts taken care?

Now, pull the ribbon tails in the vertical direction. How tight should I go? Not too tight, of course! This picture should give you some ideas. Go till the extend that the knot would not loosen and looks good.

Trim the tails, dab very little glue on them and hold them down with your thumb and index fingers.

Attaching the alligator clip

At the center of lining ribbon, shoot about inch long glue and secure the alligator clip on it. (Make sure that you are securing the clip’s FLAT face!)

Check the ends of the lining ribbon, you should have slightly longer than you need. Trim the ribbon ends and seal it. Then glue them down.

The No-Slip insert

Have your 10mm (3/8 inch) width velvet ribbon ready, have both ends sealed. Shoot the hot glue along the inner clip and neatly secure the short velvet ribbon strip.

The Finishing Touch

Take a look at the front and back of this hair bow, fluff the loops and we are done! It is ready to be worn.
