Ribbon Cutting SCISSORS that make your cut in style

What makes a pair of good ribbon cutting scissors that cut right where you aim?

If the blades are sharp but the alignment is off, the scissors will chew up the fabric. If the blades are aligned but dull they won't cut, or will pinch and possibly tear the fabric.

If they are don't shape and align, check the blade position and sharpness... all the way to their tips.

Good scissors' tips should meet at a precise point with very little or no overlap. When holding the closed blades up to a light, a sliver of light should be visible between the blades. If the blades rub together they will soon become dull and/or rough.

Now, what kind of blade to go for?

Carbon steel. The best quality scissors are those where blades and handles come in one-piece. Also, the higher the carbon steel content makes the scissors indestructible and durable.

To beautify it, chrome and nickel are added to keep it from rust and corroded.

An effective and well constructed scissors is a luxury item. Take good care of them, do not use them on various materials and they will last for decades without any sharpening required.

I have included the best ribbon cutting scissors here; they all are of affordable price.

Scissors or Shears? What is necessary?

One of the best choice for fabric ribbons is an 200mm (8") knife-edge, bent dressmaker shear, which has one large hole for the fingers and a smaller one for the thumb.

The length is good for smooth cutting along pattern lines or long clean fabric cuts. A bend of about 45 degrees at the pivot point lets the entire lower blade glide along the cutting table. This adds stability and allows the fabric to lie flatter when cutting; with straight shears, the fabric will pull up and out of position.

These are expensive fabric shears but worth investing! They look good. The feel of using them is even better - always sharp, precise and smooth!

For versatility, shears need a partner for trimming and precision cutting. 125mm (5 inch) tailor's point scissors are great for perfecting a cut around curves or in small places.

They're also heavy-duty enough for cutting multiple fabric layers. The sharp points are fine enough for fabric ribbons, lace, cutwork, appliqué, tailoring and hand needlework.

Pattern Scissors

Have you tried to create patterns on your fabric ribbons with these scissors? Don't worry about the frays as they can be easily sealed off in flame, especially for thicker fabric material.

Scissors Sets as Gifts

These are precious gifts to many craft fanatics, great starter set for crafty newbie too. They are made of good quality steel, just the sizes you need for many crafty works.

Longer Reach Hole Punch

I was looking high & low for this item to make a nice card securing the hair accessories, and I'd like to share this with you.

5/16" size hole is an ideal fit for many types of metal pieces, but it's uncommon. We can, however, use 1/4" holes as it fits many alligator and snap clips.
